2017 Municipal Intern Program Project Application
Municipalities, authorities and Councils of Government in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Washington counties, or municipalities under Act 47 may apply for the intern program.
LGA's Municipal Intern Program assists municipalities in finding an intern, as well as paying half of interns' wages.
Municipalities wanting to participate in the 12-week intern program must submit their project applications by February 24, 2017, to the Local Government Academy by submitting the form below.
For municipalities that are selected to participate in the Municipal Intern Program, a representative from your organization must attend the Municipal Intern Fair being held from noon to 2:30 p.m., Thursday March 30, 2017 at University of Pittsburgh's William Pitt Union. It is there you will meet the student candidates to fill your internship.
This year's application process takes place entirely online. Before you complete the form below, we recommend you draft your answers to the following questions in a word processing document so they can be cut and pasted into the form.
What are the overall goals of the project?
What are the economic, environmental, or social impacts this project will have on your community?
What are the expected learning outcomes for your intern?
What are the unique qualities of your community that would distinguish your internship from others?
Copy and paste your answers to these questions into the corresponding boxes below.
This program is made possible through the leadership of Allegheny County, Beaver County, the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington, the Butler County Council of Governments and the Department of Community and Economic Development/Governor’s Center for Local Government Services.
