Newly Elected Officials Course
This one-of-a-kind course is unique in Pennsylvania for its scope and content. More than 1,000 individuals have attended the Newly Elected Officials Course in its more than 30 years of existence, and the course has been distinguished as a recipient of the League of Women Voters Good Government Award.
The Newly Elected Officials Course or NEOC, offers a comprehensive overview of the duties of municipal officials, taught by experts in their fields. Reference material is provided to accompany each session. The course also introduces you to your peers in local government – an opportunity for networking and making new friends.

A formal invitation is sent to all municipal officials in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland Counties after each municipal election. Additionally, through the courtesy of county elections departments, all candidates for local office receive registration materials throughout the campaign season. Candidates may preregister with no obligation if they are unsuccessful in their political bid.
