Brian Schimmel is the Local Government Liaison for the Southwest Regional office of the Department of Environmental Protection. He acts as a point of contact for municipal, county, state, and federal representatives for all DEP programs: Mining, Oil & Gas, Waste, Water, Air Quality, and Brownfields. He facilitates meetings on high-profile or contentious issues, communicates environmental / public health issues if they arise in your area, provides outreach on new DEP initiatives and available trainings, and will field any complaints that the department may not already be aware of.
Before moving to Pittsburgh, Brian worked in DEP’s Harrisburg office as a Legislative Liaison, and later an Executive Assistant to Secretary Mike Krancer. Prior to working at DEP he was a legislative assistant at the PA House of Representatives. Brian currently resides in Troy Hill on Pittsburgh’s Northside.
