H. Daniel Cessna
H. Daniel Cessna, P.E., is responsible for overseeing all transportation planning, design, construction, and maintenance for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Engineering District 11-0, serving the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, consisting of 2,557 miles of roads, 1,806 bridges, and four tunnels. As District Executive, he oversees 790 employees in Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence Counties and a $450 million annual budget.
Mr. Cessna was appointed District Executive on May 13, 2005. He previously led the District Design Division and held management positions in Construction and Maintenance in District 10. Additionally, he has led efforts to institutionalize asset management planning statewide. Currently, he is involved with several statewide improvement efforts, through which the Department is improving processes, resource allocation, and quality of products and services. He has been with PENNDOT since 1992.
Mr. Cessna is President of the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP), is on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Section of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a B.S. and Masters in Civil Engineering from Penn State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He resides in Churchill.
