Federal Internship Support Program

The dramatic shifts in funding policies at the Federal level are affecting internship opportunities nationwide and here locally college students are losing federal internship opportunities.

Working with our academic partners, Local Government Academy is seeking applications from Municipalities, Councils of Governments, Municipal Authorities, and Non-Profit organizations interested in hosting a summer intern.

If needed, financial support is available to ensure students gain hands-on experience while providing high-quality work.

Internship requirements for employers are:

  • Be able to offer the student a minimum of 300 hours of work.
  • Offer meaningful projects and tasks that align with the student’s degree, enabling them to apply and develop their skills.
  • Assign a direct intern supervisor to the student who is willing to provide feedback and an evaluation at the conclusion of the experience.

This effort, supported by both municipal and academic partners, seeks to ensure that there continues to be opportunities for hands-on experience for future public servants. Please complete the form linked at the top of this page to apply.
