We are kicking off 2025 by welcoming a slate of new members on our Board of Directors, whose leadership will enhance our capacity to deliver non-partisan training for Pennsylvania elected officials and staff. New to the Local Government Academy Board of Directors are Dan Alwine, Tammy Cappo, Jan Kowalski, Jodi Noble, Debra Roach, Joseph Sabino Mistick, Amanda Settelmaier, and Paul Supowitz. This influx of experience and talent will help maintain the quality and utility of our longstanding programs as well as new initiatives such as the re-launch of PACOG, the Pennsylvania Association for Councils of Governments, with the goal of supporting intergovernmental cooperation.
As we look forward to a new season of educational programs, Local Government Academy is very excited to announce the 30th Anniversary of our Municipal Intern Program. Since its founding in 1995, the Municipal Intern Program has offered municipalities the opportunity to host a dedicated intern to build local government capacity. The 2025 intern projects have been announced, and we are calling all college students to apply and register for the 2025 Municipal Intern Fair on Wednesday, February 5th at Carnegie Mellon University. This is a great opportunity for driven college students to make a difference within local government and gain some real-world experience in the day-to-day work within the public sector.
We are optimistic about the upcoming year, and thank you for being a part of what we do best – providing non-partisan, fact-based education to achieve Excellence in Local Government!
