As the sun starts to shine brighter and summer begins to unfold, Local Government Academy is buzzing with exciting programs both new and old!
First up, we’re thrilled to report that the Municipal Intern Program has begun in earnest. This initiative is designed to cultivate the next generation of local government leaders, providing aspiring public administrators with hands-on experience in various municipal operations. Our interns dive into everything from comprehensive planning to public finance, working alongside seasoned professionals and contributing to impactful community projects. This program not only offers invaluable work skills for participants, but also helps shape the future of our local governments by bringing new talent into the field. This year, we are hosting interns in Allegheny, Washington, Beaver, Butler, and Cambria Counties. To provide the best possible experience, this month, we have asked Patrick Conners, Executive Director, Quaker Valley Council of Governments, to speak with our interns on his experience as a former intern and on getting most out of the program.
But that’s not all—summer fun is just getting started and we are also excited to announce that registration for LGA’s Annual Promoting Excellence Golf Outing is now open! This highly anticipated event is the perfect blend of relaxation, friendly competition, and networking. Picture yourself on lush greens, enjoying a warm day filled with camaraderie and support for our mission to promote excellence in local government. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a fun way to connect with peers in a casual setting, our golf outing is the event of the season.
Summer at Local Government Academy promises to be a season of growth, fun, and good governance. We look forward to seeing you out on the greens!
