Wanting to give back to your community? Looking to make a difference? If the answer is yes, consider a run for office!
Government requires the involvement of its citizens to be effective and equitable. If you’re interested in being the agent of change in your community, save the date for Run for Office, a non-partisan, educational webinar series hosted by Local Government Academy and Sustainable Pittsburgh.
Run for Office, starting November 14, is a five-part series of two-hour online webinars that feature subject matter experts and elected officials who will share their expertise and provide peer-to-peer interaction.
The first session, “So, you want to run for office” is free and will help you decide if running for office is for you. Our Keynote Speaker, the Honorable Tom Murphy, former Pittsburgh Mayor and state representative, will kick off a lively discussion on what it takes to run for office and the importance of understanding WHY you want to hold an elected office. At the conclusion, you will understand what it means to be a public servant, the structure of your local and county forms of government, and which office is best for you!
Registration for the first session is free. If you want to maximize your campaign efforts, you can register for the entire course for $50 at the early-bird registration, or $75 after November 13.
