Not Too Late to Join Contemplating Governing

Just a reminder! Local Government Academy’s 2015 Contemplating Governing program, which is open to potential and declared candidates for this year’s local government election, starts April 1.

On Feb. 18, LGA held a webinar, “Tackling Candidate Red Tape,” which is archived and ready for viewing by all Contemplating Governing participants.

Three in-person sessions are being held at 6 p.m., April 1, 7 and 15, at the Green Tree Municipal Center, and will cover the following topics:

  • April 1 — This session covers additional filing requirements, financial reporting and the election.
  • April 7 — The second in-person session focuses on local government structure, powers and taxation.
  • April 15 — This session is a discussion of campaign ethics and civility.

Upon a successful election, your $45 registration fee for Contemplating Governing will be applied to the registration fee for the Newly Elected Officials Course, being offered in November.
