As 2024 ends, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to strengthen communities through non-partisan education and leadership development for local government officials and staff. I have the honor of leading an organization that leverages public and private dollars for the purpose of educating local governments to follow best practices in good governance.

I am humbled by the hundreds of elected officials and municipal staff who have taken their own time to attend our training programs. Their commitment to continual learning for the benefit of others is truly inspiring and why, as an independent, non-partisan Public Charity, Local Government Academy, works tirelessly to reduce tuition costs so that all may attend our programs – regardless of the ability to pay.

With the help of our Advocates for Good Government, along with corporate and private donations to the Michael Lynch Scholarship Fund, we ensure that all local government representatives have access to fact-based education on the legal and ethical responsibilities of a public official.

Recognizing that municipal government has immense responsibilities, I do not take for granted the partnerships with Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington, and Butler County Economic Development. It is these collaborations that build our capacity to provide non-partisan, high-quality, accessible education to local government officials.

Closing out 2024 is almost bittersweet but 2025 promises to be a busy one and we don’t expect much time to rest. Recognizing that 2025 is a municipal election year, not only are we gearing up for the 2025-2026 Newly Elected Officials Course (NEOC) but also, we will be celebrating the 30^th anniversary of our Municipal Intern Program (MIP)!

As we wrap up another year of local government excellence, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Local Government Academy’s mission. Together, we are making a lasting impact, strengthening communities through education, collaboration, and commitment.
