The Grant Seekers Workshop is back by popular demand to assist local elected officials, public employees and citizens with developing key skills and techniques necessary to prepare successful funding proposals, suitable for all levels of experience.

Developing effective funding proposals is especially important in these very competitive funding-raising times, as more grant seekers are competing for fewer dollars. Learn what it takes to get your proposal awarded.

Participants will learn:

• Government Grants-Definitions and Process
• Researching and Monitoring Grant Opportunities
• Improving Readiness through Pre-RFP Planning, Partnering and Relationship-Building
• Making the “Go-No Go” Decision and Developing a Team Work Plan
• Outlining, Writing, Editing and Reviewing the Narrative
• Writing for Maximum Points and Avoiding Reviewer “Pain Points”
• Incorporating Demographic Table and Project Management Gantt Chart
• Developing and Justifying the Project Budget
• Quick Turnaround Proposals and Early Online Submissions

This seminar’s learning objectives have been reviewed by the Grant Professionals Association’s National Training Committee in conjunction with Katherine’s designation as a GPA Approved Trainer. About our trainer: Katherine F.H. Heart, GPC, M.Ed. has provided grant research, writing, and consulting services for 16 years, and presented grant training seminars for 10 years. Previously, she was a technical writer for a psychology consulting firm, and a nonprofit program manager and trainer for 15 years. Katherine has prepared winning grant applications for capital projects, programs and operations to foundations and corporate giving programs, United Way, and local, state and federal agencies. She has worked with dozens of organizations, including libraries, youth-serving agencies, health clinics, municipalities, and universities. Heart Resources, LLC partnered with the Steel Valley Council of Governments and nonprofit agencies in Homestead PA to receive a Healthy People 2020 Community Innovations Project Grant from the federal Office of Disease Prevention/Health Promotion. Katherine is a federal grant reviewer for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and served a one-year SAMHSA Voice Awards Fellowship in 2012-13. Katherine is the author of GrantepreneurTM-Getting Started in a Grant Career and Business (Red Engine Press, 2016). She earned a Master of Education degree with a focus on Health Promotion in Organizations from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984.
