“I would not have run for Mayor of Lock Haven, an office I won and held for 16 years, if it weren’t for RULE. It also goes to reason Governor Wolf would not have appointed me Executive Director of the Governor’s Center for Local Government, if I had not been a successful Mayor. I personally know the difference RULE can make as an individual, in a community. So, I know beyond a reasonable doubt, RULE is making a difference at a time it is
desperately needed.”
– Rick Vilello, RULE VII – Deputy Secretary Community
Affairs & Development, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Clinton County
Spring reminds us of tapestry of flowers, and fresh starts. “I sit before flowers hoping they will train me in the art of opening up.” (Shane Koyczan) Have you ever considered growing your own leadership? We know your “to do” list mushrooms like weeds, but you may wish to consider a program for you that will not only help you in your job, it should enhance your impact within your community.
The PA Rural-Urban Leadership Program (RULE) is an in-depth recipe for transformational leadership. We know you are familiar with all issues in your municipality, borough or county, but you can get a statewide, and more national perspective on Pennsylvania issues while meeting people who will extend your reach. You will not only get some public speaking assistance, you will improve as you learn from other leadership scholars. Who doesn’t need help in conflict resolution? A major result of orchestrated skills building is the enhancement of self-confidence, which increases the capacity for organizational and community impact. This opportunity only comes along once every two years.
Please write to Tara Homan [email protected] to ask about an application so you can get more details. We encourage you to grow in ways you may never have planned.
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they never had any.”
– Alice Walker
