Local Government Academy is all about education. From our Municipal Intern Program, Newly Elected Officials Course, to our Technical Assistance services, education is central to what we do. We have an immense responsibility to put forth non-partisan, fact-based information to help local governments succeed, and we work diligently to maintain our standards of professional development for public officials and municipal employees. So, what’s next?
Local Government Academy’s Fall Lunch & Learn webinar series, which begins Thursday, October 6, 2022!
Produced as Lunch-n-Learn webinars, in response to numerous requests, we hope the noon sessions will prove more accessible for elected officials working full-time jobs.
We will of course have sessions on the fundamentals of local government administration, but new this webinar series is a feature on public-private partnerships, where we will explore fleet management and privatizing of infrastructure. Kicking off with funding opportunities for local governments through Duquesne Light’s Fleet & Community Charging Programs and the recent experience of West Mifflin Borough.
Municipal Managers know that supervising Public Sector employees comes with specific legal considerations, some of which became more pressing with the COVID-19 Pandemic. Each phase presented new challenges in handling remote work requests and policies. On October 13, join Campbell Durrant Attorneys Allison N. Genard and Peter J. Halesey to discuss how employers are navigating the return to office while addressing employee needs.
Our Blight Mitigation Initiative continues October 20 with attorneys Daniel C. Conlon, Esq., and Ashley J. Puchalski, Esq., of Tucker Arensberg, who will review the Pennsylvania’s 2008 Abandoned and Blighted Property Conservatorship Act, which is important legislation that helps local governments return neglected properties to productive use. We know that blight is a serious and pervasive issue in communities throughout Pennsylvania, and we recognize that communities often have very different needs. Join this session to learn if Conservatorship will help your community fight blight.
