The Academy made some big changes for the Municipal Intern Program this year. Working with previous interns, placement sites, and our academic partners, the program now includes more development opportunities for students and heightened expectations for the intern projects. However, what we didn’t anticipate was that we would cancel the 2020 Municipal Intern Fair! But no worries, the program continues just with some changes.

For the first time in 25 years, in response to the concerns of COVID-19, Local Government Academy canceled the Municipal Intern Fair, which had been scheduled for March 26 with our partners at CMU-Heinz College.

Since students can’t meet with project leaders face-to-face, they will need to apply to the program directly on our website. The Academy will do what we always do, which is facilitate the interaction with the placement site.

Students must submit their applications online by noon on Friday, April 3, for consideration by the Placement Sites. All Internships are posted, and students must select preferred projects!
