The big day arrived with a clear, blue sky and a bright sunrise: a perfect day for golf. Local Government Academy’s staff, Golf Committee Members, and volunteers arrived at the sprawling green of the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course to greet and check in arriving golfers, who then made their way toward hot coffee and a breakfast buffet.
The annual Promoting Excellence Golf Outing was established almost three decades ago to benefit the Michael Lynch Scholarship Fund, which ensures that Local Government Academy can provide non-partisan education to public officials and staff, regardless of their ability to pay. Attendance to programs such as our Newly Elected Officials Course is made possible for numerous officials because of money we raise with this yearly local government tradition.
Mockenhaupt once again brought the fun by sponsoring the 2022 Putting Contest which featured an original Arnold Plumber putter! New this year was the Municipal Basket Raffle a competition that generated a lot of interest from our golfers with such goodies as a foursome to Edgewood Country Club included in the Churchill Borough basket. Brentwood Bank, our Hole-In-One sponsor, upped the stakes with the addition of an “Around the World Beer Basket” for closest to the Pin!
This outing would be impossible without the hard work of our volunteers: George Zboyovsky, Mark Mansfield, John Barrett, Ruthann L. Omer, Steve Solman, Kyle Thauvette, Tammy Cappo, Kristen Chekan, Suzanne Chybrzynski, Joe Dudenhoeffer, Rebecca Matsco, Barb Parees, Dan Santoro, Crystal Sickles, Joe Dudenhoeffer, Sue Trout, and Denise Simon.
And congratulations to everyone for another great year on the green.
